Under The Fridge

I’m just processing a bunch of job applications at the moment - we were expecting about 5 applicants
and got nearly 40.

It’s made me realise that my office desktop setup is really not suitable for this kind of thing. The department run Linux system does not have the tools (OpenOffice 2 mainly) to handle random .DOC files,
and my personal setup (another PC) doesn’t handle my mail or printing. So I have to save the CV,
scp it over to the other machine, use OpenOffice to convert it to a PDF, copy it back, then print it.

I’m not going to get caught up in distractions until I’ve finished processing these, but it’s clear
I need to have a good look at my workflow and tools.
